KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Youth today lodged a report, urging the police to investigate the organisation of the “Thai Hot Guys” event, which is scheduled to take place at a venue in the capital on March 30.
The wing’s executive councillor member Datuk Shahrul Nasrun Kamarudin claimed that the event poster uploaded on the premises’ social media account is against Malaysian law.
“The event is also scheduled to be held in the month of Ramadan,” he told reporters after filing the report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters here.
Also lodging a police report against the organisation of the event was Bersatu Youth exco member Muhammad Harris Idaham Abdul Rashid.
Harris said there needs to be a clear law that does not allow any form of such performances to take place in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya, when contacted, confirmed receiving the reports, adding that they have so far received three reports against the organisation of the event.
Earlier, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the organisation of the said event was contrary to Islamic teachings and moral values of the community.
He said that the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department has been instructed to investigate the organisation of the event. – Bernama, March 22, 2023
