Biotech firm keen to help ministry with Covid-19 vaccine distribution

KUALA LUMPUR – HWGB Biotech Sdn Bhd is hoping to collaborate with the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry on its study of and distribution of the E-Mo Covid-19 vaccine, developed by E-Mo Biology Inc (EBI).

HWGB Biotech – a wholly owned subsidiary of Ho Wah Genting Bhd (HWGB) – said it is keen to support studies into the Covid-19 vaccine.

“It is also a positive step for HWGB Biotech’s efforts to plan for the distribution of the E-Mo Covid-19 vaccine developed by EBI in Malaysia,” it said in a statement today.

HWGB Biotech general manager, medical and pharmaceutical research Dr Yaman Walid Kassab said he hopes the company will receive the necessary support from the ministry on the distribution of the vaccine.

“In light of the current Covid-19 situation in Malaysia, it is imperative for us to work fast to provide a safe, affordable and easily accessible vaccine for the masses to ensure immunity to Covid-19,” he said. – Bernama, December 8, 2020
