KUALA LUMPUR – A man who performed dangerous motorbike stunts while clad in Baju Melayu in Kelantan over the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays has been requested to present himself at a police station.
In posts across its social media platforms today, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) said that the man and his female passenger came under police radar after a video of their shenanigans recently made the rounds online.
“Police are tracking down a motorcyclist dressed in a baju Melayu who carried a female passenger while performing a dangerous ‘wheelie’, which is when the motorcycle’s front tire is lifted.
“The incident is believed to have happened in Jalan Pasir Puteh, Kg Peringat in Kota Baru, Kelantan,” the statement read.
Appealing for the man to surrender himself, it noted that the suspect’s presence at a police station is necessary to assist investigations under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Previously, videos of the duo’s antics on what appears to be a Honda EX5 was widely circulated online, prompting netizens to express their disappointment at the couple’s actions.
A video of the incident posted by a local automotive Instagram page @careta_malaysia garnered approximately 3,000 views and 200 comments over just two hours, with many commenters chiding the duo.
“Your children would be ashamed to see this,” an Instagram user by the name of @mgthrzn said, while another user, @fahmy_mansor ridiculed the man, saying: “This is very good! Hope you get caught (by police) soon!”
Over on Facebook, several users lamented how the video has shone a bad light on Kelantan, with Ahmad Razi saying: “Congratulations to the youth of Kelantan; you have successfully displayed excellent performance in the motoring arena.” – The Vibes, April 25, 2023
