KLANG – A total of 3,719 migrant workers in red-zone areas in Klang, Selangor, and Seremban, Negri Sembilan, have been tested for the coronavirus from December 1 until yesterday under the Targeted Covid-19 Screening Programme for Foreign Workers.
Social Security Organisation (Socso) prevention, medical and rehabilitation division head Dr Azlan Darus said the number will increase as the programme expands to include other red zones starting today.
“Beginning today, employers in red-zone areas... including Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak and Kuala Lumpur can start contacting clinics registered with Socso under this programme.
“To date, there are 592 clinics registered in six states (Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, Negri Sembilan, Penang and Sabah).
“In Selangor alone, there are 298 clinics registered with Socso, and employers can check the list our portal,” he told reporters here today.
On November 28, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said the programme would be implemented in red-zone localities with a high density of foreign workers, starting with Klang and Seremban on December 1.
Screening in other red-zone districts in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang began today, and will be conducted in Sabah, Labuan, and other Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan districts on December 16. – Bernama, December 9, 2020
