ALOR SETAR – Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has told DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang to mind his own business, and focus on his home state of Johor instead of bothering about what is going on in Kedah.
Taking offence to Lim's call for Sanusi to be replaced as menteri besar, the Kedah PAS deputy commissioner said that Lim should stop poking his nose into Kedah’s affairs.
Lim had earlier joined a chorus of criticism by leaders of DAP and MIC, as well as some political commentators, who took exception to Sanusi referring to those who criticised his administration’s move to demolish two Hindu temples as being “drunk on the toddy of popularity”.
Lim, who is also MP for Iskandar Puteri in Johor, said that the reference came across as a racial slur.
To this, Sanusi told a press conference here today that Lim has nothing to do with Kedah and is not an elected representative here.
In his statement earlier today, Lim said that he supported the stand of political analyst Prof Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi that Sanusi should be replaced as Kedah menteri besar, as he is not fit to hold any office in a plural society.
“Instead of apologising for his rude, insensitive, unacceptable racial slur, Sanusi added insult to injury when he told his critics to take Bahasa Malaysia classes for not understanding what he said,” Lim had said.
He said the nation cannot have a menteri besar or office-holder who does not respect the sensitivity of Malaysia as a multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural nation, for this would be violating the fifth of the five Rukun Negara nation-building principles of “courtesy and morality”. – The Vibes, December 9, 2020
