KUALA LUMPUR – The Federal Territories (FT) Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) with the cooperation of all mosques and Friday suraus in the FT, as well as the FT Islamic Religious Council, will organize the Aidilfitri Malaysia Madani@Dataran Merdeka programme this Saturday.

In a statement today, Jawi said the programme, set to be held from 10am to 12 noon at Dataran Merdeka here, is expected to be graced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“A total of 120 mosques and Friday suraus, including in the FT of Putrajaya and Labuan, together with several of our strategic partners are coming together to organise this programme which targets to see some 20,000 attendees.

“With this programme, we aim at forging closer ties with the people in the three territories, besides strengthening the cooperation and brotherhood among mosque committees in the FT,” it said.

The statement said it is also to give the less fortunate as well as tourists the opportunity to taste various Hari Raya dishes in the spirit of goodwill and unity, as well as to promote the mosques in the FT as a centre for unifying the ummah.
