KUALA LUMPUR – Police have the right to summon anyone in investigations pertaining issues of royalty, religion, and race if the need arises.

Top cop Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said police will call up individuals believed to be involved in such cases to facilitate the investigation process.

“This is our standard investigation procedure,” he said when asked about the 3R task force’s plan to summon PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Acryl Sani met with members of the media during an event at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here today.

Several police reports were lodged over Hadi’s statement that opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional had plans to oust the unity government led by Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Hadi was reported as saying that he had yet to be summoned by police to have his statement recorded on the matter.

Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin had said the task force to investigate 3R-related matters was formed on March 22 and led by Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan.

Investigations were handled by the Classified Criminal Investigation Unit, Prosecution and Law Division under the Criminal Investigation Department. – The Vibes, May 18, 2023
