SINGAPORE – The Singapore Health Ministry has confirmed that one of the seven imported Covid-19 cases in the republic on Friday is a 44-year-old Malaysian man.

“Case No. 58,527” is a work permit holder, and has been placed on the stay-home notice, said the ministry in a statement last night.

It said the man and five other imported cases are asymptomatic.

The lone imported case with symptoms is a 42-year-old local man who returned from Indonesia.

Singapore yesterday reported eight new coronavirus patients, one of whom lives in a foreign workers’ dormitory, taking the national tally to 58,305.

Of the total, 1,525 are imported cases, community cases (2,275) and foreign worker dorm residents (54,505).

About 99%, or 58,192, of the overall cases have recovered, while 29 are still hospitalised.

Singapore has seen 29 virus deaths, with the last fatality reported on November 28. – Bernama, December 12, 2020
