MIRI – Police have seized a sizable amount of drugs and personal items in an anti-drug raid at an entertainment centre in the state capital.

Sarawak police chief Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the anti-narcotics police and a team from Bukit Aman had on 1.20am on Sunday raided the place located near Sg Padungan in Kuching.

The team subsequently arrested five local men, a local woman and a foreign woman, he told a press conference today at the Kuching police headquarters.

The suspects are aged between 26 and 42.

Police later seized vehicles and personal items from the suspects, he said.

The seized drugs are estimated to be worth RM197,458 and could potentially be sold to 8,877 drug users, he said, adding that the other seized items are worth some RM1.2 million.

Azman said the case has been classified under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death or life sentence with whipping of at least 15 strokes upon conviction. – The Vibes, June 28, 2023
