PETALING JAYA – Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu has called upon party leaders and members to focus on the state elections and not on who will be Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub’s successor.

He urged them not to lose focus and pay full attention to secure victory in the state elections next month.

“Do not worry now about who is going to replace Salahuddin in the government.

“We will discuss that with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a later date,” he said in a statement.

Mat Sabu, as he is fondly known, said all leadership and succession issues will be handled according to the set rules and practices.

Salahuddin, who was the domestic trade and cost of living minister, died at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar after undergoing surgery for brain haemorrhage on Sunday. He was 61.

He was also the Pulai MP and assemblyman for Simpang Jeram, as well as Amanah’s deputy president. – The Vibes, July 26, 2023
