PETALING JAYA – The Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link project (PJD Link Expressway) has been scrapped.

Selangor caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the state was unhappy with the impact assessment reports submitted by the developer which did not meet conditions set by the state government.

“This is especially from the aspect of the social impact assessment report.

“In view of this, the state government does not plan to proceed with the project and has decided to reject the application made by the developers,” he said in a statement.

Amirudin said development in the state must strike a balance between the people’s interests and the economic development and sustainability of Selangor.

Initially, he said the proposal for the highway construction was approved in principle by the cabinet in November 2017.

In September 2020, the state approved the project in principle, subject to the impact assessment reports.

Amirudin had indicated earlier this month that the proposed highway had only been given conditional approval and would end up like the proposed Kinrara-Damansara Expressway project that was shelved in 2015 if it failed to meet certain requirements.

The PJD Link is a proposed 25.4km dual-lane tolled elevated expressway connecting Damansara to Bandar Kinrara.

It would have gone past several areas in Petaling Jaya, including Jalan Penchala and Jalan Utara. – The Vibes, July 31, 2023
