SEREMBAN – Citing a survey conducted with the cooperation of several quarters, a Negri Sembilan PAS leader said they found support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the state showing a 300% increase.
State PAS Youth chief Mahfuz Roslan said this reflected that a “rakyat’s wave” in the country has impacted on Negri Sembilan.
“The green wave as claimed by DAP is actually the rakyat’s wave and it can’t be stopped,” he remarked.
Mahfuz, who is also Negri Sembilan PN deputy youth chief, said the wing is confident its efforts to deliver a surprise win in the state election this August 12 will bear fruit.
He said this was based on how welcoming voters had been during the campaign period which is now in its fifth day. This, he said, is not limited to adults, but also the youth.
“They welcomed us not only in urban areas, but also Felda settlements, villages, and rural areas like Gemencheh and Jempol.
“We will continue to work hard throughout the campaign period to convince voters that PN can govern Negri Sembilan, and bring the state’s development to a better level,” he said.
Commenting on the issue of outside candidates being played up by certain quarters, Mahfuz claimed voters were not buying it. The narrative is not working because being an outsider is not a hindrance for an assemblyman to carry out their duties, he said.
He cited an example of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who himself was an outsider when he stood in the 2018 Port Dickson by-election as a PKR candidate.
On PN’s menteri besar candidate, he said the PN presidential council would only convene and discuss the matter should it win Negri Sembilan. – The Vibes, August 8, 2023
