KUALA LUMPUR – The much-talked-about Quranic Village project in Putrajaya will get a RM5 million allocation under Budget 2021, Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa told the Dewan Rakyat today.
Barisan Nasional’s Ketereh MP said the project is at the construction planning and conceptual stage, and will also be paid for using international endowment funds.
“This development plan is still at the stage of modification and implementation. However, it is important to ensure that Putrajaya is known as the city of al-Quran.”
In July, Annuar announced that the country’s administrative capital will have a Quranic Village, with a proposed development cost of RM150 million.
The village will house a RM50 million mosque that is able to accommodate 5,000 worshippers in a single prayer session, as well as a business centre selling local products. – The Vibes, December 14, 2020
