PETALING JAYA – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today said he was puzzled by the prosecution’s move to ask the court to grant Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) when it had successfully proven a prima facie case against him.
“Was the prosecution instructed by some ‘superiors’ to request for Zahid’s DNAA?
“After all, the prosecution had successfully established a prima facie case by presenting documentary evidence and 99 witnesses, and the court was satisfied with the substantial evidence provided.
“Strangely, the prosecution, which had successfully proven a prima facie case, requested the court to drop the charges. This is highly unreasonable,” he said in a statement today.
He claimed that the decision to drop the charges against the deputy prime minister would affect investors’ confidence in Malaysia’s justice system.
“Not only was an individual facing multiple graft charges appointed to the second highest position in the country…the charges against him were also dropped.
“Malaysia has become a rogue state,” he claimed.
“It is high time for the people to reassess this unity government’s legacy, when it should uphold the rule of law and constitutional integrity.” – The Vibes, September 5, 2023
