KUALA LUMPUR – Two people were killed when a lorry crashed into several vehicles in Putrajaya today.

The incident occurred about 10.15am along Persiaran Utara, heading to Precinct 12.

Several cars had apparently stopped along the highway to make way for police outriders who were escorting a convoy when the lorry crashed into them after it failed to brake on time.

Police said the lorry was changing lanes and crashed into three motorcycles, six cars, two lorries and a police outrider on a motorcycle.

Two men were confirmed killed at the scene, while the others were rushed to the Putrajaya and Serdang Hospitals.

The two deceased have been identified as motorcyclists.

Putrajaya district police chief ACP A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz the lorry driver will be detained for a urine test and further investigations,
