KUALA LUMPUR – Amid the political machinations in the country, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said Malaysia would be better off without the formation of one political alliance after another.
Since the formation of a new government 10 months ago, he said in a Facebook post last night, there seems to be no solution to Malaysian and Malay politics.
“The continuous bickering has only further frustrated the people, and as such, Malaysia’s leaders need to resolve their fickleness.
“The people are also tired, fed up and sick of the various conflicts, particularly coming from Malay politicians.”
He said the people need new policies, ideas and ingenuity to make Malaysia prosperous, as well as fresh inspiration for the nation to grow.
“It is time we leave these uncertain histories behind and open the book on a new page. It is pointless to dwell on the past, as the story has already been told.”
He quoted Indonesian philosopher Hamka, who said: “A wise person lives for his community and not for himself.”
Mohamad’s comments came hours after former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Umno stalwart Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah held a joint press conference.
In a rare show of solidarity, Dr Mahathir and Tengku Razaleigh hinted at the possible fall of the Perikatan Nasional government.
Dr Mahathir also called on all lawmakers to vote against Budget 2021’s third reading “based on their conscience for the sake of the country”, in an announcement that was echoed by Pakatan Harapan leaders, who urged MPs from both sides to vote down the supply bill, saying it does not fulfil the demands and desires of the people. – The Vibes, December 15, 2020
