BINTULU - Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has named Iskandar Turkee, 54, the National Anti-Dadah Agency chairman for Sarawak, as the candidate for the Jepak by-election.
GPS chairman Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg announced this today at a hotel here after a party meeting.
Iskandar, from Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu, is a local and from the Vaie ethnic group.
Yesterday, Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi) announced its Jepak by-election candidate and pledged to highlight the woes of the rakyat caused by rising cost of living during their by-election campaign.
Aspirasi president Lina Soo announced that well-known local businessman Chieng Lea Phing, 64, to go against GPS in Jepak.
Nomination day for the Jepak by-election will be on Oct 21 and polling on Nov 4.
