I HAD my vaccination yesterday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec).
It’s a mega complex. Lots of walking from one end to the other as we went into a few different halls for various stages of the process.
I am sharing my experience here to help you manage expectations if you are destined for Mitec.
From the drop-off point to the first hall was about 800m. It’s like walking from the old wing of the One Utama Mall in Petaling Jaya to the new wing.
If you have elderly and infirm family members, there are wheelchairs available, so, no worries.
In Hall 1, you are seated in organised rows of 20 pax.
I was seated in row six and given forms to fill.
Please bring a pen with you. Half the crowd here was searching to borrow one.
Then, we are ushered in an orderly fashion into the next hall to take a number.
This is done row by row at five-minute intervals so that there is no congestion.
In Hall 2, we wait until our numbers are called.

The waiting takes a while as this is where we explain to the doctors and nurses our health condition.
Please bring a letter from your doctor to state your condition and comorbidities (if you have any).
There are at least 50 counters of doctors and nurses to attend to you. Thereafter, the doctors will then assign you to either Station A (Pfizer) or Station B (Sinovac).
You then proceed to another section of the hall where the vaccination booths are.
At Mitec, there are some 70 booths for vaccination.
Each patient will take a few minutes. So, the wait for the vaccination took another 20 minutes.
Once the vaccination is done, we will be given the date for our next dose.
Finally, we are ushered to be seated in the rest area. Sinovac recipients rest for 15 minutes while Pfizer patients rest for 30 minutes.
A sick bay is nearby if you experience dizzy spells. No one did.
I came in at 12.15pm and left at 2.15pm.
Total walking distance was 2.1km, according to my Apple iPhone Health app.

I must commend National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is the minister overseeing the vaccine roll-out, the doctors, nurses, volunteers, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) security and everybody else for an excellent job.
Mitec may be a mega complex but it is well spaced out due to its enormity. Lots of people were catered to but well physically distanced.
