IN response to Anthony Loke’s accusation in Parliament that Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong terminated the Klang Valley Double Tracking 2 (KVDT2) project awarded to Dhaya Maju-LTAT (DH-LTAT) through direct negotiation due to personal interests, on behalf of the MCA Youth Civil Society Movement Bureau, I urge Loke to produce evidence to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission immediately and accept the challenge by Wee to repeat his corruption allegations outside of Parliament.
Before Pakatan Harapan (PH) came to power, its leaders had always criticised Barisan Nasional for awarding government projects through direct negotiation and emphasised that government projects must be conducted through open tender to demonstrate the institutionalisation of transparency in government administration.
However, after PH took office, it went against its self-touted principle of integrity – this is especially during Loke’s tenure, when he awarded the KVDT2 project to DH-LTAT through direct negotiation instead of open tender, reflecting his hypocrisy.
As everyone knows, adopting an open tender approach to government projects ensures an ideal outcome where the government obtains the most competitive offer, while preventing the possibility of corruption and abuse of power. It is understood that the open tender procedure is the prudent way to stretch our taxpayers’ hard-earned ringgit.
I wonder why Loke is so upset when Wee terminated the letter of intent for a direct negotiation that the former transport minister issued during his tenure, when a better offer could be made. Are there any hidden interests behind this project ? I hereby call out to Loke to explain to the people immediately. – The Vibes, December 3, 2020
