INTRODUCING the newsroom’s inaugural podcast titled Spotlight, we start with an interview with Setiawangsa PKR incumbent and vice-president hopeful Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad on his party election bid.

Ahead of the party polls between May 13 and 18, Nik Nazmi said he is facing a tough challenge from veteran actor Datuk Afdlin Shauki Aksan in Setiawangsa, but remains quietly confident of retaining the support of his divisional members.

Nik Nazmi said he, however, welcomes Afdlin’s decision to contest as it brings “a lot of colour” to the party polls and celebrates democracy within the party fold.

“With the record that I have, I know it’s not perfect given the circumstances with the political changes, Covid-19, and everything else,” Nik Nazmi told The Vibes.

“I believe a lot of members can appreciate what I’ve done (for Setiawangsa)...this is part and parcel of politics. I think that I welcome the competition and I know it won’t be a walkover for me.” – The Vibes, May 14, 2022
