Inside Shazmin’s Head: Episode 2 – Are you dead inside?
Wake up and smell the coffee...

MANY people walk through life feeling numb, if they feel anything at all. You go about your business as a high-functioning depressive and you cope as opposed to thrive in a world that spins on regardless of your mental state.

Are you suffering in silence? Is the healing balm of time more than a simple cliche?

Dr Joel talks about the impact of long-term depression and how the goals of ‘thriving’ can be a toxic one, when you perhaps should be aiming lower. Coping can be a better target for you in the meantime as you tackle underlying problems for more sustainability in managing your mental health.

We also discuss medication versus therapy. Whilst the temptation for a quicker route (pills) to more mental stability is an attractive one, the long drawn-out process of therapy may actually be more beneficial in equipping you with lifelong skills to manage depression and whatever life throws at you. – The Vibes, June 13, 2022
