NATIONAL squash queen S. Sivasangari won the Hong Kong Football Club Open yesterday for her second title this year.

The world number 22 player needed just 34 minutes to beat Egypt’s Amina Orfi – the junior world champion in 2022 and 2023 – 11-9, 11-8, 11-5 in the women’s final.

Sivasangari had won the Tunku Mukhriz Cup championship in August.

“I felt a little bit nervous at the first round. I didn’t feel good but I played better each day and brought good progress.

“I’m really happy, especially getting to beat a very talented player (Amina),” the Kedah-born player said in an audio clip shared by the Professional Squash Association on X.

Meanwhile, fellow national player Ng Eain Yow fell to Egypt’s Aly Abou Eleinen in the men’s final.

Ng, who is world number 21, lost 6-11, 11-5, 7-11, 7-11. – Bernama, November 26, 2023.
