MALAYSIAN squash legend Datuk Nicol David recently shared photographs of her meeting with former NBA giant Yao Ming in Beijing.

"It was an absolute honour to meet the legendary Yao Ming, former professional NBA star from China, during my visit to Beijing," wrote the eight-time world squash champion.

She also spoke about the basketball star's Yao Foundation that empowers children through sports in rural China.

"They have built 28 schools, done PE programmes and impacted around 6,7 million children.

"We shared about my own foundation @nicoldavidorganisation and how we are also hoping to change my country, Malaysia, through sports and education," she said.

David said she also hopes to share the message that more children need to be active to be healthier, happier and have a positive future.

"My foundation is only 4 years old, but this year we will impact 5,000 children- one day I hope to say we have impacted millions," she added. - May 26, 2026
