LEE Zii Jia made it into the quarter-finals of the 2024 Arctic Open badminton championship after defeating his Japanese opponent Yushi Tanaka in the men’s singles second-round in Vantaa, Finland, today.

Zii Jia, who is the defending champion, managed to overcome strong resistance from World No. 30 Tanaka before securing a 21-11, 21-18 win in the second round that lasted 42 minutes.

The world No 4 showed signs of returning to his form with this easy win and his first-round victory over Frenchman Christo Popov 21-15, 21-11 yesterday.

It was Zii Jia's first quarter-final appearance in the world tour since winning the men's singles bronze at the Paris Olympics in August. - October 10, 20
