MALAYSIAN sports received a massive shot in the arm today from the government's allocation of over RM230 million from the 2025 Budget, reported the New Straits Times.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the bumper allocation is for the Podium Programme, athletes' training and the Road to Gold initiative.
It also includes para athletes' preparations ahead of major events.
The fund will also be used for the maintenance and upgrades of youth and sports facilities nationwide, as well as matching grants to encourage the organisation of competitions by associations and non-governmental organisations.
Anwar, in his speech, congratulated Malaysian athletes who competed at the recent Paris Olympics and Paralympic Games. -October 18, 2024
