KUALA LUMPUR – Towerrunner world record holder, Soh Wai Ching, will be scaling new heights on the 12th of January, 2021, with the intention of making his mark in the Malaysia Book of Records.

The partnership between the Malaysia Towerrunning Association (MTA) and Technogym Malaysia started when Wai Ching was recommended by a friend to reach out to Technogym to utilise their state-of-the-art gym equipment.

For Wai Ching and the MTA, these record-breaking attempts do not just serve to promote the sport, it is aimed at a bigger purpose; to promote fitness.

Wai Ching shares that, “the main objective of achieving all THREE records is to promote Towerrunning as an efficient sport that brings together strength, endurance and mental toughness”.

Although landing his name in the Malaysia Book of Records may seem like a step back for Wai Ching,  who broke the world record in 2020, chief operating officer Christopher Wong assures Malaysians that these achievements will be recorded for the world to see.

“MTA aspires to be the best in the world and we strongly encourage the culture of excellence by establishing new records and making the impossible possible,” says MTA Vice President, Ravinder Singh.

And what better way to go global than with international fitness equipment provider, Technogym, who aims to promote health and fitness to the masses.

Wai Ching’s official attempts for the ‘Fastest Time to Achieve the Height of Petronas Twin Towers on a Stair Climb Machine’ (under 25 minutes*), the ‘Most Number of Steps Achieved on Stair Climb Machine in One Hour’ (over 4,500 steps*) and the ‘Fastest Time to Achieve 1000m on a Stair Climb Machine’ (under 45 minutes*), will be attempted on Technogym’s Excite Live Climb machine at their showroom in Bangsar.

“Technogym Malaysia proudly supports Soh Wai Ching’s initiative to break records, as he continuously trains on our latest EXCITE LIVE CLIMB machine,” Country Manager of Technogym Malaysia, Lester Francis adds. – The Vibes, January 5, 2021
