BADMINTON professional Lee Zii Jia is seeking a Kuala Lumpur High Court order to limit his father and sister’s control over key financial and management decisions at LZJ Management, as a legal dispute over the company’s governance continues.

The interim injunction application, filed on July 2, seeks to prevent Lee Chee Hin and Lee Zii Yii, both directors of the company, from approving directors’ fees, allowances, bonuses or other financial benefits for themselves beyond their monthly salaries.

The application remains contested, with the respondents opposing the requested court intervention. The available information does not establish whether the court has granted or dismissed the injunction.

Zii Jia named his father, his sister, younger brother Lee Tao and LZJ Management as respondents in the suit.

He is also seeking to restrict decisions on the appointment or removal of directors, the appointment of a company secretary, the disposal of major assets, the issuance of new shares and changes to the company’s shareholding structure without court approval.

Zii Jia claims to own 90 per cent of the company, while Zii Yii holds nine per cent and Lee Tao the remaining one per cent.

Separately, he is seeking a court order for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to discuss the company’s management and governance.

In his supporting affidavit, Zii Jia said an attempt to convene an EGM on Dec 22 last year failed due to a lack of quorum.

He wants the meeting to be held within 14 days of the court order, or within another period determined by the court. He has also sought permission to issue and serve the meeting notice and appoint an independent chairman.

In a reply affidavit filed on Aug 6, Chee Hin disputed the need for court intervention, stating that the company continued to manage matters relating to his son’s professional badminton career. - October 13, 2026
