KEDAH – The Kedah Football Association (Kedah FA) remains adamant that they will settle the three-month unpaid salary before Sept 30.
This comes after the players and coaches have been suffering from late payments since early January.
Kedah FA president, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the payment for March, July, August and September has been paid, with only April, May and June yet to be settled.
“Salaries have to be paid before the seventh of each month, so all the current payments have been settled according to the stipulated time,” he said.
Kedah FA had a massive financial crisis under former president Mukhriz Mahathir, as Sanusi revealed there is an RM10.5 million debt involving salaries, and many other payments.
The change of state government has prompted a change in administration for Kedah FA, but it took them several months to settle the unpaid salary.
Perhaps it was too long for left-back Azmeer Yusoff, who left the team in May and taking a break from football this year.
Kedah FA also became the only one who requested an extension from Malaysian FA (FAM) to complete the financial documents, which they were supposed to submit on Sept 15.
However, the team performance does not seem affected by the off-field issues as they won four out of five matches and currently sit third place in Super League, with two matches to go. – Football Tribe, September 28, 2020
