KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd CEO Khairul Firdaus Akbar has rubbished allegations that players had not been paid salaries for three months, but that payments were only late.

He also denied the claim made by a fan group that the players had boycotted training.

"The claim that the players had not received their salaries for three months is untrue.

"The players did not boycott training because of non-payment but rather training ended early yesterday. They were told to rest before their flight to Penang for the match this Sunday," he said here today.

A fan group running the twitter handle "SabahRhinos" yesterday alleged Sabah FC players had not received their salaries since February, while coaches had not been paid for four months.

The alleged tweets went viral last night.

Firdaus denied the private club had neglected the players' needs, saying the club's management did the best it could in running its affairs.

"The management had never neglected the problems faced by its players whether on or out of the playing field or do anything that would damage the club's performance," said Khairul, further adding that the relationship between players and management is good. - The Vibes, April 9, 2021
