KUALA LUMPUR – It will be winner take all when the top two teams in the Malaysia Premier League meet tonight.

Penang will take on Kuala Lumpur at the City Stadium in Penang as the winner of this clash will be on the pole position to win the Premier League title this year.

With both teams going in to the match with an impressive unbeaten record, it is certain that tonight’s game will be a fire cracker.

Penang head coach, Manzoor Azwira is confident of his team’s chances to winning the tie but at the same he believes that Kuala Lumpur cannot be taken lightly as he considers them to have the quality that is comparable to a Super League team.

“Kuala Lumpur is actually a team equivalent to any team in the Super League if you look at the quality of the players, they have but we will fight hard to get three valuable points.

“This victory not only puts us closer to getting a slot into the Super League but also puts us in a good position to be the Premier League champions.

“I am also happy with the improvement shown by the team, especially since the return of Lee Chang-Hoon who played in the last two games, contributing significantly in attacking,” he said.

Meanwhile, Manzoor said they have to win it for the sake of their loyal supporters who had always been behind the team.

“If we manage to beat Kuala Lumpur, I want to give these three points to the supporters,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur’s experienced stalwart, Shukor Adan, did not want his comrades to be too stressed to seek victory but focused only to avoid defeat to Penang.

If they manage to take home one point, it will be enough for Kuala Lumpur to ensure that the competition is still open to both teams who are chasing the title.

“Most importantly we cannot take Penang for granted after looking at their recent performances.

“The strength of Penang really lies with its import players who have the experience of playing in the Super League, so the Premier League is not difficult for them.

“At the same time, I believe that many local players in the Penang team have the quality and the experience to win it for them. With this deadly combo of their local and import talents, they are extremely dangerous and deserves the respect,” he said. – Football Tribe, 19 September, 2020
