KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian Football League (MFL) has announced that teams in the Malaysian League have been granted permission by the government to carry out Camp-Based training during the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) from 1 June 2021 to 14 June 2021.
However, the Camp-Based training must adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the full closure of the social and economic sectors, or Phase One ‘total nationwide lockdown’ for a period of 14 days, as announced by the Prime Minister's Office through a media statement on May 28, 2021.
Chief Executive Officer of MFL, Dato 'Ab Ghani Hassan, thanked the National Security Council (MKN), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) for granting permission for the teams in the league to continue their training during the ‘total lockdown’.
“As the Malaysia League's administrator, MFL would like to thank the government for allowing the Malaysian League clubs to continue practising on a Camp-Based Training basis, which I feel would help the clubs prepare for the Malaysia League's return in July.
“Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), Kedah Darul Aman (KDA), and Terengganu FC (TFC) are competing in the Asian Champions League (ACL) and AFC Cup, as well as having players representing their country in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“Aside from that, MFL has taken into account the 14-day quarantine that the teams must go through upon returning home.
“This will surely benefit the teams, especially JDT, who will compete in the ACL beginning June 21, 2021, while KDA and TFC will compete in the AFC Cup on June 22, 2021.
“However, for the safety and health of the team officers and players, only centralised team training will be allowed during the first phase of the FMCO. Other events such as friendly matches or any cross-district or state activities are not allowed until decided otherwise.
“MFL strongly encourages all teams to work together to comply with the SOPs that have been imposed, as well as to work with Government Agencies and Match Commissioners selected by MFL to monitor the application of SOPs at the team level.
“Any breach of the SOPs will result in the MFL or the Malaysian government taking action against the team under Act 342 (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988),” he mentioned in a statement today.
Ab Ghani added that the latest information on the FMCO will be informed to all teams in accordance with the instructions of the Government.
As of today, the MFL has given permission to four Super League teams, JDT, KDA, TFC, and UiTM FC, as well as Terengganu FC II and PDRM FC from the Premier League, to perform Camp-Based training. – The Vibes, May 31, 2021.
