KUALA LUMPUR – Newly appointed CEO of Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM) Mohd Faidz Sanusi has big plans for the facilities under his management.

Previously, Faidz held the role of press secretary for Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

Speaking to The Vibes, Faidz said his first order of business would be to focus on post-pandemic recovery.

“The immediate focus will be to reactivate the sporting facilities nationwide.

“Not only Kuala Lumpur Sporting City (KLSC), but also the other facilities that is within our purview,” he said.

For KLSC, he aims to work on sports programmes as well as concerts and other special events that can bring crowds back into stadiums that have been empty for two years.

“I am looking to work closely with various stakeholders including the various sporting bodies and promoters in an effort to promote tourism.”

Faidz also plans on prioritising community outreach activities to develop rising talent and improve the future of Malaysia’s sporting scene.

“I will also be looking at how we can maximise the usage of several sports complexes such as Bukit Kiara Sports Complex and have them become the catalyst for sports development at the grassroots level in the country, and also support the recently announced Malaysia Sports League (MSL),” he added.

The Youth and Sports Ministry through the National Youth and Sports Department has earlier this month announced the MSL.

MSL is a sports tournament reaching down to the community levels involving several sports including futsal, netball, badminton, sepak takraw and basketball.

Faidz also added that his attention will be given to the rakyat, ensuring all assets under (PSM) is easily available to the public.

“Reaching out to the rakyat is very important, giving them the opportunity to do any type of sports that they want.

“I also want to focus on school children, especially in the development stages, that is my main priority,” he added.

On his second day on the job, Faidz greeted Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim who visited the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

The crown prince has announced that he would sponsor the stadium with a new pitch upgrade, with an estimated cost between RM1.2 to RM1.4 million, which is expected to begin in January next year.

Faidz also made a visit to the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Johor yesterday to have a closer look at the Zeon Zoysia-type grass that will be installed at the Bukit Jalil Stadium. – The Vibes, March 25, 2022.
