KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia start their medal tally at the 2022 SEA Games as Nur Dhabitah Sabri wins gold in the women’s 1m springboard while Kimberly Bong Qian Ping claimed silver.
Starting off strong, Dhabitah gained a total of 290.45 points from the five rounds of diving, with the breakdown being 57.60, 63.70, 51.75, 57.60, 59.80.
Meanwhile, Kimberly scored a total of 230 points to secure the silver medal, and gaining 52.80, 50.70, 33.35, 44.40, 48.75 in the five rounds.
Speaking to the media after her win, Dhabitah said she felt quite nervous as this was her first international tournament since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
“This was a big deal for me, I just had to focus on myself and perform at my best.
“I hope this achievement can encourage the other Malaysian athletes to go for gold in their respective events.
“Now I need to focus on my synchronised event with Datuk Pandelela Rinong,” she said.
Vietnam’s Ngo Phuong Mai came in third to give Vietnam their first bronze medal. – The Vibes, May 8, 2022
