PUTRAJAYA – The Bukit Jalil National Stadium is currently being audited to assess the extent of its structural damage.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu assured that repair works for the stadium – which was last given a facelift in 2017 to host the SEA Games – will be completed as scheduled.
“Everything is on track. We will make sure it is completed in the allotted time.
“We are in the midst of auditing the stadium and coming up with a structural forensic. Once we have completed the audit report, we can determine what needs to be done to improve the stadium’s condition,” Faizal said after officiating the Malaysia Little League 2022 at Taman Pancarona Mini Stadium today.
Education Minister Datuk Radzi Jidin also attended the event, following a collaboration between his ministry and Faizal’s that looks to develop new football industry talents through grassroots development via the best sports schools.
The stadium had been closed since June 15 to make way for repair works after the appalling condition of the football pitch was made obvious during the 2023 Asian Cup Qualifiers match against Bahrain.
The football pitch was soaked following a heavy two-hour downpour, leaving stadium workers unprepared for the aftermath.
