SHAH ALAM – 2022 Le Tour de Langkaw (LTdL)i Stage 2 winner Juan Sebastian Molano of the UAE Team Emirates has been disqualified for irregular sprinting during the race from Kuala Klawang to Raub yesterday.

The decision was announced on LTdL’s official Twitter account late last night, saying that Craig Wiggins (Ara Pro Racing Sunshine) is given the first place, while Gleb Syritsa of Astana Qazaqstan Team took the second place.

Jakub Mareczko of Alpecin-Deceuninck, who came in fourth, jumped to the third position.

With Molano’s disqualification from Stage 2 would mean that he had slipped into the 109th position along with the last group of riders to arrive at the finish line.

However, the Colombian was allowed to continue racing as usual for the remaining stages.

It is believed that the 27-year-old Molano had intentionally pushed another rider with his left hand, 300m into the finish line.

It would not be his first time being disqualified for misconduct during a race.

In June, he was eliminated from the Criterium du Dauphine Stage 6 race, after beating French rider Hugo Page, 10km into the finish line. – The Vibes, October 13, 2022
