KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has announced a partnership with Hewlett-Packard (HP) Inc. Malaysia through the national esports team, eRimau.

The partnership worth RM300,000 will see HP Malaysia be the official information technology (IT) equipment and e-store partner for eRimau which begins its 2023 FIFA eNations Series campaign in December.

HP Malaysia managing director Alex Tan said the collaboration is set to ensure the esports football scene and ecosystem continue being developed and nurtured through usage of high-quality gaming devices such as the HP Victus laptops and HyperX gaming peripherals.

“HP and FAM share the same vision to elevate esports in Malaysia, and with the excellent performance of national esports athletes lately, we believe that it is a worthwhile cause to champion together.

“This partnership marks an increased commitment to advancing Malaysia’s gaming industry, and we couldn’t be more excited to equip the incredible and talented athletes of eRimau with the tools they need to prepare for the FIFA eNations Series Play-Ins Asia and Oceania 2023,” he said at the signing ceremony for the partnership today.

At the recent 2021 Hanoi Sea Games, Malaysia won three bronze medals, including the FIFA Online 4 category.

Meanwhile, FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin described the collaboration as a brilliant start for the future of esports football in the country.

“The support we have been receiving from sponsors has massively contributed to our efforts in continuously developing and improving the football ecosystem in the country.

“With the partnership with HP Malaysia, we can now branch out and also improve the esports football industry,” he said.

Hamidin also expressed excitement at seeing the FAM eRimau squad at the 2023 FIFA eNations Series campaign with HP Malaysia as its sponsor.

“I hope that through this partnership, we can produce more young talents in the esports arena of football that can make Malaysia proud.

“I am confident that with HP Malaysia coming on board as a sponsor for the eRimau team, the players and coaches will be more enthusiastic to start the 2023 FIFA eNations Series,” he added.

The partnership is set to end around June of next year, but both FAM and HP Malaysia said they would look forward to furthering the collaboration. – The Vibes, October 27, 2022
