KUALA NERUS – Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Tomislav Steinbruckner was pleased with his team’s performance as they advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals for three consecutive seasons yesterday.

The Croatian said that his players deserved all the credit for playing their hearts out to win in front of the more than 5,000 spectators who packed the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.

He said that although TFC came into the match as the favourites, it was not an easy feat to beat Kelantan FC.

“Of course, I am happy and satisfied because we won and advanced to the next round. Congratulations to my players because we achieved the target.

“We played for the first time in the afternoon... it was not easy, but we are a better team and we deserve the win today,” he said after the match against The Red Warriors at the stadium.

The last season’s finalists qualified for the FA Cup semi-finals after downing Kelantan FC 4-2 thanks to goals by Azam Azmi Murad, Sony Norde, Ivan Mamut and Syafiq Ismail.

The victory puts the Turtles one step closer to repeating last year’s feat of qualifying for the finals, with the winner of another match between Sabah and KL City FC awaiting them in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Kelantan FC head coach Frank Berhardt blamed his team’s defeat on individual mistakes.

In light of this setback, he urged his players to put their loss behind them and shift their attention to the upcoming Super League match against PDRM FC. – Bernama, May 28, 2023
