According to the New Straits Times, Bertrand Rhodict Anak Lises qualified for the Paris Olympics after his performance in the men’s 10m individual platform event at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka today. KUALA LUMPUR – Sarawak-born diver Bertrand Rhodict Anak Lises made a pleasant surprise when he became the first Malaysian athlete to qualify for the Paris Olympics.

According to the New Straits Times, his qualification comes after his performance in the men’s 10m individual platform event at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka today.

The 18-year-old finished in 10th place in the platform semi-finals with a 420.70 total. The top 12 divers of each event earned Olympic tickets.

Bertrand’s achievement is a huge surprise, as the fraternity was expecting seasoned campaigners Pandelela Rinong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri to seal early Olympic spots first.

Bertrand will now compete for the podium in Fukuoka tomorrow. – The Vibes, July 21, 2023
