KUALA LUMPUR – Unity in strength is former chief justice Tun Zaki Azmi’s reminder to all citizens as the Malaysian Federation celebrates the 57th anniversary of its formation.

Malaysians calling for secession are “selfish”, he told The Vibes.

“We are still quarrelling (about) who is Sabah, who is Sarawak, who is West Malaysia. I think we have to start being realistic and stop being selfish with one another.”

Zaki, 75, served as the country’s sixth chief justice from 2008 to 2011, ascending from the role of Court of Appeal president.

This is part of The Vibes’ interview with Zaki, in which he shares his thoughts on current issues in the nation. – The Vibes, September 19, 2020
