IRAN has reopened its central and western airspace to international transit flights following security and safety assessments, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development announced on Saturday, according to Xinhua.
Ministry spokesperson Majid Akhavan said the decision was approved by Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation (CAO) after thorough evaluation by the relevant authorities.
Akhavan noted that Iran had earlier reopened its eastern airspace for domestic, international, and transit flights, but emphasised that “no flights will land at or depart from airports in the northern, southern, or western parts of Iran” at this stage.
In a separate statement, the CAO confirmed that airspace over northern, southern, and western Iran would remain closed to all operations until 14:00 local time (1030 GMT) on Sunday.
Iran had closed its airspace on 13 June following Israeli airstrikes targeting Tehran and other locations. A 12-day aerial conflict culminated in a ceasefire agreement between the two sides on Tuesday. - June 29, 2025
