ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally expressed regret to Qatar over an Israeli attack in Doha, during a three-way call with US President Donald Trump and Qatar’s leadership on Monday, according to a statement from the White House.
Reuters cited today that Netanyahu also acknowledged the violation of Qatari sovereignty and gave his assurance that “Israel will not conduct such an attack again in the future,” the White House said.
The apology came as Trump hosted Netanyahu for high-level talks in Washington, where the two leaders discussed a proposal to end the nearly two-year-long war in Gaza — a conflict that has increasingly isolated Israel on the international stage.
“The leaders discussed a proposal for ending the war in Gaza, prospects for a more secure Middle East, and the need for greater understanding between their countries,” the White House said ahead of a joint press conference with President Trump and the Israeli prime minister.
The rare direct apology from Israel follows rising tensions over regional operations and comes amid renewed American efforts to broker a peace deal and de-escalate the Gaza conflict.
While specific details of the incident in Doha were not disclosed, the diplomatic outreach suggests growing pressure on Israel to repair relations with key Gulf states, particularly as Washington pushes for broader regional cooperation to stabilise the Middle East. - September 30, 2025
