ISRAEL’S military said it carried out fresh strikes on targets in Tehran early today, following multiple Iranian missile launches towards Israeli territory in a rapidly escalating conflict that has entered its third week.

The Israeli Defence Forces said the attacks were directed at what it described as “regime targets” in the Iranian capital, which has faced near-daily bombardment since the joint United States–Israel offensive began on February 28.

AFP cited the campaign has reportedly killed several senior Iranian officials, including the country’s top leadership.

Iran has responded with sustained missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, United States interests in the Gulf, and other locations across the region, widening the scope of the conflict.

In a brief statement, the Israeli military said it had struck “targets of Iranian fighting forces in Tehran”, following earlier operations against Iran-backed Hezbollah positions in Beirut.

No further details were provided concerning the impact of the latest strikes.

Earlier, Israeli forces reported detecting missile launches from Iran towards Israeli territory at least three times within a six-hour period. Air raid sirens were activated across multiple areas, according to the Home Front Command, although no casualties have been reported.

In a separate statement, the military said recent operations in Tehran had focused on ballistic missile sites.

“IDF will continue to weaken the military offensive capabilities of the Iranian regime,” the statement said. - March 21, 2026
