Iran’s Seismological Centre says no immediate reports of casualties or damage - May 13, 2026

A 4.6-MAGNITUDE earthquake struck late Tuesday near the city of Pardis, located east of Iran’s capital, with tremors reported across parts of Tehran and neighbouring regions, according to Iran’s Seismological Centre.

The quake occurred at 2016 GMT and had a recorded depth of approximately 10 kilometres, the centre said in a preliminary assessment.

Anadolu Ajansi, citing Iran’s Seismological Centre said on Wednesday that the epicentre was located near the Tehran–Mazandaran provincial border, around 41 kilometres from Tehran and 77 kilometres from the city of Karaj.

The tremors were reportedly felt in several surrounding areas, including eastern districts of Tehran province as well as parts of Mazandaran province, prompting brief concern among residents.

However, there were no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage following the seismic event.

Emergency and monitoring agencies continue to assess the situation as aftershock risks are evaluated, although no further seismic alerts have been issued at this stage. - May 13, 2026
