THE Kremlin said on Monday it had not received any specific information on new proposals for a peace settlement in Ukraine ahead of a planned meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Washington.

Trump and Zelenskiy are scheduled to hold talks in the US capital on Tuesday, as diplomatic efforts continue over the war in Ukraine.

Reuters cited a Ukrainian source saying last week that US and Ukrainian officials had been discussing a proposal for an air ceasefire to present to Russian representatives as part of a renewed round of peace negotiations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said reports about the proposal remained unconfirmed and lacked concrete details.

"It is true that this information emerged a few days ago, but so far it is nothing more than media speculation. There are no specific details on this matter, nor are there any specific details regarding any new proposals or suggestions," Peskov told reporters.

Peskov also declined to comment on Zelenskiy's claim that Moscow was preparing to receive 30,000 North Korean troops in Russia's Voronezh region.

"I don’t think it’s necessary to comment on them (Zelenskiy's remarks). It is not for Zelenskiy to talk about our plans," he said. - July 27, 2026
