A MAN died on Saturday after entering a tiger enclosure at a wildlife park in northern England and being attacked by the animal, police said.
Emergency medical teams were sent to Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster after the incident was reported at about 1.35pm, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, South Yorkshire Police said in a statement.
Videos circulating online appear to show a man being pawed at and grappled by a tiger in the Land of the Tigers enclosure at the park, near Doncaster.
The tiger was uninjured and remained inside the enclosure during the incident, the police force said.
The park was evacuated following the attack, while officers remained at the scene on Saturday night as investigations continued.
“We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened,” AP cited Yorkshire Wildlife Park saying in a statement on its website.
The park opened in 2009, with its “Land of the Tigers” attraction launching in 2011.
The attraction features a purpose-built, two-acre reserve for endangered Amur tigers, also known as Siberian tigers. A 300-metre elevated walkway allows visitors to observe the animals moving through woodland and grassland, as well as playing in a waterfall pool, according to the park’s website. - October 11, 2026
