Iran warns countries aiding US military action will become 'legitimate targets'
Tehran threatens retaliation against any nation providing military, logistical or operational support to Washington - November 6, 2026

IRAN has warned that any country assisting the United States in military operations against the Islamic Republic will be considered a legitimate target, escalating tensions amid the widening conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement carried by state media, Iranian authorities said any military, logistical or operational support provided to Washington would invite retaliation from Tehran.

The warning comes amid escalating hostilities between Iran and the United States, following a series of attacks targeting the interests of both sides across the region.

Anadolu Agency reported Iranian officials saying the country was prepared to defend itself against any threat and would not hesitate to take action against parties involved in attacks on its territory or interests.

The statement was seen as directed at US allies in the Middle East that host American military bases or provide facilities supporting Washington's regional operations.

Tehran also reiterated that any military action against Iran could have wider consequences for regional stability, international trade and global energy security.

Several countries have meanwhile urged all parties to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic negotiations to prevent a wider war that could threaten regional security.

The latest warning comes as US President Donald Trump reportedly acknowledged that the conflict with Iran had affected his party's political performance in the recent elections, although he defended his administration's actions as necessary for national security.

There has been no indication that either side is prepared to significantly soften its position, fuelling concerns that the prolonged confrontation could escalate into a broader regional conflict. - November 6, 2026
