SINGAPORE – From today, no prior appointment is needed at 11 Moderna Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPVs) in Singapore, announced the Health Ministry.
The move is aimed to ease the immunisation process for all Singaporeans, permanent residents and long-term pass holders aged 18 and above, it said in a statement today.
Those who have yet to come forward for their first dose will be able to walk-in at any one of the centres, it added.
Since mid-July, Singapore has allowed individuals aged 60 and above to visit any PPV, polyclinic or participating Public Health Preparedness Clinic to receive their vaccination without an appointment.
On Singapore’s National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, the ministry said the republic has made good progress so far.
As of July 31, Singapore has administered around 7.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Around 4.3 million individuals have received at least one dose, of whom 3.3 million have received both doses.
“This means about 61% of residents have completed the full regimen,” said the ministry.
It said 83% of those aged 60 and above have received at least one dose or booked their appointment, while the same is for 88% aged 45 to 59, 87% aged 40 to 44, and 83% aged 12 to 39.
In another matter, the republic advised its citizens currently in Myanmar to consider leaving as soon as they can via commercially operated flights, as the situation in that country remains volatile, compounded by the recent surge in coronavirus cases.
“Singaporeans who choose to remain in Myanmar must consider the risks to their health and personal safety,” said Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. – Bernama, August 2, 2021
