TAIPEI – Some 42,000 people in Taiwan had made appointments for a locally produced Covid-19 vaccine via the government website within two minutes after the current round of vaccination appointment bookings started at 10am today.
According to the online service provider, Trade-Van Information Services, the large number of users logging in to the system in a short time simultaneously had prompted the company to impose measures to control access to the online booking system.
As of 10.30pm, the number of people who had booked appointments for the vaccine made by Taiwan’s Medigen Vaccine Biologics rose to 78,279, according to Taiwan’s CNA quoting data compiled by the company.
The appointments in the current round must be made by noon on Wednesday, and the appointments are scheduled to take place between August 23 and 29.
People of 36 years old and above, and those between 20-35 years who have indicated a willingness to receive the Medigen vaccine can book their appointments in the current round. This includes those who suffer from rare or serious illnesses and injuries.
At least 600,000 doses of the Medigen vaccine will be distributed around Taiwan. – Bernama, August 16, 2021
