KUALA LUMPUR – A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's southern Sumatra at 9.44am today.

According to a statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the moderate quake occurred 17km south of Siberut Island at a depth of 19km.

The department said it did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia. – Bernama, November 17, 2020
