WASHINGTON – Multiple people were injured in a shooting at a US mall yesterday, reported local media, with victims rushed to hospital, but no fatalities immediately reported.

The FBI and Milwaukee County Sheriff’s office tweeted that their officers are on the scene at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, supporting the “active” response by police.

It is not clear how many people are wounded.

Local media reported seeing at least three people being taken from the mall by stretcher. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said some people remain inside the mall on lockdown.

None of the victims’ injuries appears to be life-threatening, Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride told ABC News, adding that the shooter is believed to still be at large.

The Journal Sentinel said the local medical examiner – who is called to scenes with deaths – is not at the mall, located some 10km outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s largest city.

Wauwatosa police said a press conference will be held later in the day. – AFP, November 21, 2020
